Once Upon a Time I stayed at a motel in Mexico

A Mexican Motel

Circa 1977

The sign along the road said called it a "motel" but it was really a converted barn. I loved it.

We asked about coffee in the morning and got a vague answer. But before the sun was up the next day, the proprietor had left a tray of fruit and coffee in front of our door.

The owner's preteen daughter had the day before been chosen "La Reina de Fiesta" at her school and he was as proud as could be.
